We Visited Benin Bronzes at Metropolitan Museum in New York~By Nekpen Obasogie

During our visit to New York in April, Lady Aghabiomon Ogbeiwi and I visited Metropolitan Museum in downtown Manhattan in New York on April 29th, 2024 to view Benin artifacts. We had goosebumps standing beside those artworks in the museum. It was like viewing the pictures of one's ancestors - the ancestral connection was felt. We saw the popular Idia mask, a plaque of Benin warriors, a leopard (bronze) and others. It was an intriguing moment for us at the museum. We look forward to the return of those artworks back to the Oba’s palace in Benin, the original location where they were looted by British troops in 1897.  ~~~~By Nekpen Obasogie
