Edo Citizens Purchased 135 Books In Support of Edo Language Day, August 10th, 2024

As the 2024 Edo Language Day is getting closer, some eminent Edo citizens have stepped up to support the program. Lady Aseosa bought 100 books, Evang. Judith Ede Roland bought 15 copies and sister Helen Aisien purchased 20 books to support Edo Language Day Worldwide! I discounted 5000 books in a donation to this year's Edo Language Day Worldwide! For each book sold, N1000 will be donated to Edo Language Day Worldwide. I encourage everyone to please support Edo Language Day program by purchasing or donating this book to your Alma-Mater (the secondary, college, or university you attended in Nigeria or abroad).  I thank the Almighty God and our ancestors for guarding and protecting me all these years so I can witness a milestone (golden age) in my life. As a visionary woman, my pedagogy and work ethic encompass innovation, originality (unreplicated work), and service to humanity. When you have more to offer the world, people replicate your vocation. My priorities and goals are to inspire, innovate, build (develop my empire), and genuinely and unconditionally support others. I thank my parents and all Edo people for nurturing me to capacity!

We had a successful event (Info Session for Newcomers, March 9th, 2024) at the Nigerian Canadian Multicultural Centre in Toronto (hosted at Etobicoke Civic Centre). Our first in-person event this year will be held in partnership with the Canada Revenue Agency. The Restitution of Benin Artifacts from Smithsonian Museum, Washington DC - Oct 11, 2022

Nekpen Obasogie was invited by Smithsonian Museum to attend the signing ceremony of the return of Benin artifacts from Smithsonian National Museum of African Art (NMAfA), Washington, DC, United States, on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. The first ever return of historical Benin bronzes from the United States to Nigeria. In preparation for their safe repatriation to Nigeria, the artifacts, which have been away from their Benin, Edo State abode for over 125 years, were removed from display at the gallery shortly after the signing ceremony. Nekpen Obasogie took time off her busy schedule in Toronto, Canada to honour the invitation and join the ceremony along with other Nigerians which included high government officials led by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and the Director General of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM), Prof. Abba Isa Tijani. 2023 Edo Elders Award

  Edo Elders Award We have incorporated Edo Elders Award into the Edo Language Day program with a maximum of six nominees annually. The award program is geared towards recognizing and honouring Edo Elders, who have contributed immensely to the development of the Arts, Culture and Civilization of the Great Benin Kingdom. As part of this year’s program, the Edo Lanugauge Day Organizing Committee has selected six Edo Elders and one posthumous award recipient for the 2023 Edo Language Day Worldwide program. These preeminent Edo Elders would attend the award ceremony at the Edo Language Day program in Toronto on August 12th. Former Canadian Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney Has Died At Age 84

Former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney has died at the age of 84. Mulroney is survived by his wife, Mila, and four children. Among them are Caroline Mulroney, Ontario’s transport and francophone affairs minister, and Ben Mulroney, a well-known TV personality. Mulroney’s daughter Caroline announced his death in a social media post on X, saying, “The country’s 18th prime minister died peacefully and surrounded by family.” According to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, " He will have a state funeral." Born in Baie-Comeau, QC., in 1939, Mulroney would go on to build a political career marked by his leadership of the at-times fractious coalition of Western conservatives, Red Tories and Quebec nationalists that made up the old centrist Progressive Conservative Party, and a legacy of securing the original NAFTA trade deal with the U.S. and Mexico as well as passing the goods and service tax into law.
