Edo Elders Award: 2023 Edo Language Day Worldwide, August 12th & 13th

Nekpen Obasogie has incorporated Edo Elders Award into the Edo Language Day program—to be hosted on Edo Language Day Worldwide—with a maximum of six nominees annually. The award program is geared towards recognizing and honouring Edo Elders, who have contributed immensely to the development of Benin History, Culture, Education and Arts. All the 2023 nominees are required to attend the award ceremony in Toronto or Benin City on August 12th, 2023 at 252 Bloor Street, 12th floor Nexus Lodge, OISE, University of Toronto. Any nominated Elder in Benin will be invited to receive the award at the Victor Uwiafo Creative Hub in Benin City.

Absolutely Stunning: Organizers, Guests & Dignitaries, 2024 Edo Language Day in Toronto

The 2024 Edo Language Day Worldwide program, with the theme of the Renaissance of Edo Indigenous Languages , was successfully organized in Canada on August 10, 2024. The event took place at the University of Toronto, Canada. T he First Black Female Member of Parliament in Canada, Hon. Jean Augustine gave a presentation on her visit to Benin City decays ago when she was still a member of the parliament. Canadian Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP), David Smith, gave awards to the Committee Members of Edo Language Day Worldwide program in Toronto and appreciating their efforts and commitment towards the development of arts and culture in Canada. Some prominent Edo personalities present at the event includes: Pa Eghianruwa Ọmọruyi, Lady Aghabiomon Ogbeiwi, and Dr. Harris Enabulele and Dr. Alphonsus Obayuwana, Nosakhare Alex Ihama, Mr. Aghahowa Tunde Obazee among others. Nekpen Obasogie Presented Award & Book to Dr. Patricia Fadaka-Igbinovia in New York

The Committee Members of Edo Language Day Worldwide made a historic visit to Dr. Patricia Fadaka-Igbinovia on April 28th, 2024 in New York. I was privileged to present an award and my second book to her. It was a delightful moment, as I honored a prominent Edo woman who has contributed immensely to the development of Edo State. She served in different capacities in the state, including Commissioner, High School Principal, and other positions before emigrating to the United States where she later acquired her Doctorate degree . Hon. Jean Augustine & MPP David Smith Graced Edo Language Day at University of Toronto, August 10th, 2024

The 2024 Edo Language Day Worldwide program was successfully celebrated on August 10th and 13th, 2024. The event was hosted simultaneously in six locations worldwide, including Toronto, Auchi, Ososo, Okpella, and Ekpoma. In Toronto, the event was hosted at the University of Toronto in Partnership with OISE/University of Toronto. Some prominent Edo citizens in the United States such as Pa Eghianruwa Ọmọruyi, Lady Aghabiomon Ogbeiwi, Dr. Harris Enabulele, Dr. Alphonsus Obayuwana, Mr. Aghahowa Tunde Obazee, Prince Ephraim Odiakaosa Nwabuokei, Osadebamwen Oviasogie, Mrs. Adesuwa Joyce Osunde, Dr. Itohan Idumwonyi, Mrs. Rita Oviasogie, and others came to Toronto to grace the event on August 10th at the University of Toronto.
