Memories Are Forever As Award Winning Nigerian Author, Lady Nekpen Obasogie's Books Sold Out In Las Vegas
For award winning female Nigerian Canadian author, Lady Nekpen Obasogie, the recent ENAW Convention in far away Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America on Saturday, September 24, 2022 will continue to remain in her memory for a long time to come.
An elated Lady Obasogie who has obviously carved a niche for herself as one of the custodians of the rich Benin cultural heritage in the diaspora and Nigeria through her writings, confessed that at the event, she experienced the highest book signing exercise of her writing career so far as hundreds of copies of her books were sold out at the memorable occasion.
While many people went home with copies of the books for their personal consumption, others bought them for exhibition and research centres.
Getting emotional as she signed several autographs, the writer could hardly hold back as tears of joy rolled down her cheeks. Many people including elders visited her stand to pray for her and offer words of wisdom and encouragement.
Beaming with satisfaction, Lady Obasogie, the founder of NEBO TV, an online television station said that the fame was obvious as many people got to know her through her regular television shows.
She enthused: "Thank you Lord for giving me the wisdom and knowledge to unravel my life experiences as a girl child, gender exclusion and my cultural background into a book, embraced by the global audience."
While advising her fans to watch out, the author said that she is not resting on her oars as an eminent New York based erudite scholar is currently editing the second edition of the award winning book for publication.
Lady Obasogie, the author of "Great Benin: The Alcazar of Post-Colonial Culture" which examines how the systems introduced to Benin by the colonialists right from the very first contact between Europe and Great Benin Kingdom in 1400 AD to when it was invaded by Britain towards the tail end of the 19th century in 1897, redefined and shaped the political, economic, social, and cultural structures of Benin and its people.
The Canada-based Nigerian writer, the recipient of Edo State chapter of the Association of Nigerian authors (ANA) honorary Pen Award is also the author of another best selling book of Benin folk stories, "The Life of Princess Adesuwa" which has gained global attention for putting Benin folk stories before the international audience.
