The Success of Edo Women’s Empowerment Event in Toronto

The Association of Edo Women in Canada.

The success of the event organized by the Association of Edo Women in Canada on January 11, 2020 (Empowering Women for Success in 2020) led their guests to demand for more. The event created an avenue for people to learned how to take and apply the most compelling story that resonates with their lived experience, such as marriage, health, career, business, politics and more! It was indeed, an opportunity for people to network with other career men and women, entrepreneurs, high achievers in real estate agents, women in media, film and television, life coach specialists and other professionals and experts in various fields.
The event was organized by two prominent Edo women in Toronto (Nekpen Obasogie & Isoken Ibie) who believe that togetherness is very pivotal to economic and self development in diaspora and our homelands. Mark Shields once said that, “There is always strength in numbers. The more individuals or organizations that you can rally to your cause, the better.”  The Association of Edo Women in Canada truly encapsulate the strength in numbers.
History
Edo women in canada consist of four ethnic groups, Bini, Esan, Owan and Etsako. Regardless of the ethnic diversity in Edo state, history tells us that many Edo people have a strong ancestral connection. They believe that this connection should be recognized and maintained no matter where we are in the world.

Objectives
The Association of Edo Women in Canada aim to harness the oneness and unity of all Edo women across Canada. Their programs are centered around the promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the Edo people, empowering women, professional growth and to program people’s lives for a better future.
