History made: Edo Citizens Endorsed August 13th as Edo Language Day declared by  NEBO TV Canada (Nekpen Obasogie). The declaration was made at the first worldwide Edo Language Seminar organized by the University of Benin in collaboration with NEBO TV. It was a historic event that featured many dignitaries from the Benin kingdom. They connected via Zoom on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 to strategize on how to preserve, revitalize, harmonize and standardize the Edo Language orthography. It was their response to the warning over the potential extinction of the Edo language and many other Indigenous languages across the globe.     The  first book,  Great Benin: The Alcazar of Post-Colonial Culture and Its Relationship with the Europeans Since 1400 AD , critically examines the relationship between the Benin Kingdom and the Europeans during the period of early contact to the time when Benin was colonized by Britain in 1897. It analyzes how the systems introduced to Benin by the colonists redefined and shaped the political, economic, social, and cultural structures of Benin and its people. The Association of Nigerian Authors- Edo State Chapter: Honorary Pen Award to Nekpen Obasogie

Nekpen Obasogie Received an Honorary Pen Award from the Association of Nigerian Authors (Edo State Chapter) on December 16th, 2021 in Benin City. As part of measures to honor writers who add value to society, the Association of Nigerian authors, Edo State Chapter, has awarded Canada-based Indegene of the Great Benin kingdom, Nekpen Obasogie the honorary pen award.   The event which was held in Benin city had family members of the great author ably representing her and members of the association who had nothing but praises for the Author and her works.   In 2021, an act of curiosity prompted her to embark on the journey of researching the history of the Europeans and the Benin Kingdom during the early contact.  She wrote the book to examine what transpired between the Europeans and Benin kingdom from 1400 AD to when Benin was invaded by Britain in the 19th century.  Her book, Great Benin: The Alcazar of Post-Colonial Culture, is currently making waves on social media....
